Over 150 SACOME members attended the third Breakfast Briefing of 2012 to hear about exciting developments within the South Australian resources industry.
Dr John Parker, Managing Director, Lincoln Minerals, discussed the recent resurgence of graphite, noting the increasing global demand and price increases. In his presentation, ’South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, a world class graphite province – The Pilbara of Graphite’, Dr Parker described the scoping study, covering a number of graphite deposits and prospects on the Eyre Peninsula. Tom Cooney, General Manager – Project Development, Mungana Goldmines focussed on evaluation work which the company is confident will lead to the successful development of a medium scale gold mining operation. He explained the location of the resources on the Gawler Craton, and explored the potential for new discoveries in close proximity to the two projects. Mr Cooney outlined Mungana’s plans for growth in South Australia. View his presentation here.
Terry Burgess, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, OZ Minerals discussed the Carrapateena advanced exploration project. Mr Burgess discussed the advanced exploration phase and OZ Minerals proposal to begin development of a decline to target the deposit and conduct further studies. Mr Burgess emphasised that employment of local people will be a key priority for this project. View his presentation here.
