Around 560 guests joined in celebrating ‘Our gifted State’ at the Annual Resources Industry Dinner on April 30, where Premier Jay Weatherill presented the leading companies with awards for social inclusion; community participation; environmental management; and in providing leadership opportunities for women.
The 2013 awards were presented at the annual event run by SACOME, covering four categories for the first time to include awards in environmental management and the inclusion of women in the industry. The winners were:
Excellence in Leadership – Women in Resources: award jointly to OZ Minerals and Beach Energy for their cross-industry initiative encouraging diversity across all organisation levels through their ‘Leading My Career Program’
Excellence in Environmental Management - awarded to Flinders Logistics for the development of dust minimisation using ground-breaking technology
Excellence in Social Inclusion - awarded to Iluka Resources for successful social inclusion and indigenous initiatives including its Pre-Employment Programs
Excellence in Supporting Community Participation - awarded jointly to PepinNini Minerals for their long-term work in encouraging the participation, involvement and contributions from local remote communities in their operations; and Royal Resources for their range of community participation programs and work in raising awareness about mental health.
